GOVERNOR YUSUF’S PROMISE FULFILLED AS KANO STATE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT BOARD FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF FREE MNCH COMMODITIES TO 106 PHCCs
The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board has flagged off the distribution of free Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) commodities to 106 Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state.
This milestone initiative is in fulfillment of the campaign promises of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to improve healthcare access for mothers and children, reduce preventable maternal and child deaths, and strengthen primary health care delivery in the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Director General Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim commended the Governor for keeping to his word and prioritizing maternal and child health. He also appreciated the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Labaran Abubakar Yusuf, for his continuous support and leadership in the state’s health sector.
The DG further charged all Zonal Directors and Heads of Departments (HODs) to remain vigilant and ensure that the commodities reach the intended beneficiaries. He stressed that accountability and transparency must guide the distribution process, adding that the Board will not tolerate diversion or misuse of the free commodities.
On his part, the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacist Abdullahi Abubakar Danzabuwa, assured that the commodities are of the highest quality and will be distributed according to best practices in pharmaceutical supply and management.
The Board emphasized that the intervention reflects its commitment to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensuring that no mother or child is denied access to life-saving health commodities due to financial barriers.
With this distribution, KNSPHCMB is confident that maternal and child health outcomes in Kano State will continue to improve, further strengthening the foundation of primary healthcare in line with global best practices.
